Plug and Play May Summit | Bota CTO Yi-Shu Tai: Turning Laboratory Breakthroughs into Scalable Manufacturing Reality
Plug and Play recently hosted its May Summit in the United States, bringing together leading startups, corporations, and investors from around the world. During the summit, Bota CTO Yi-Shu Tai joined the “Scaling Bioprocessing Globally” panel discussion alongside biotech leaders from Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and other regions.

The discussion focused on the challenges of scaling bioprocessing technologies from laboratory breakthroughs to industrial production. “Discovering a molecule is only the beginning,” Tai said. “The real challenge is turning it into a scalable and reliable manufacturing process.”
During the session, Tai introduced Bota’s end-to-end platform integrating artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and industrial manufacturing capabilities. The company provides precision fermentation services while commercializing bio-based products for nutrition, food preservation, and personal care applications.
Tai also highlighted China’s advantages in biomanufacturing, including fast supply chain responsiveness, strong engineering talent, and advanced equipment manufacturing capabilities that support rapid industrial scaling.
Through its participation at the summit, Bota further demonstrated China’s growing role in the global biomanufacturing ecosystem and its commitment to accelerating the commercialization of sustainable biotech solutions.
